Buying Cars 101

Have Confidence When You Purchase Cars

When people look to buy cars, they sometimes do not know what to look for in general. Car lots love to get uninformed people on the lot, so they can take advantage of them and get them into what they believe is a great deal. Here are a few things that all people who are going to buy cars should keep in mind.

The conditions and terms of your contract should be well laid out and easy to understand. Sales people will tell you how much you will pay every month for a number of months, but this leaves out information on your interest and the company who will be financing you. If you can, use your own credit union or personal bank because car lots generally get kick backs for using their own institutions and you will end up paying quite a bit more than if you use your own.

Sometimes warranties are offered with a new car. You should ask about how many miles or years the warranty will cover, and what is not covered. Some places will offer oil changes and tires or rotations for a certain number of miles or years, and others offer none. Always remember to ask about the additional cost of this on your contract before signing.

Sometimes used vehicles will have additional guidelines to follow. Always take a mechanic along for the ride, or ask if you can take the vehicle to a shop prior to purchasing. Mechanics can help you find some great cars, even a really cheap vehicle from some of the used cars for sale under 1000 dollars. Some lots use little things like motor honey to cover a knock that could easily be a $1,000 fix and you would never know without a mechanic.
